Making the SDGs a Reality

We run for peace

The Run for Peace (RFP) is a biennial event that is non-competitive and organised by Soka Gakkai Malaysia (SGM). Its purpose is to bring together people from different backgrounds, with a special focus on young individuals, to promote peace and raise awareness that peace starts with the individual.

The first RFP took place in 2005, and since then, there have been eight successful runs. The most recent one in 2019 had 115,000 participants across 28 locations in Malaysia. SGM has collaborated with various organizations, including government agencies, NGOs, and educational institutions such as the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Health, National Unity and Integration Department, State Governments, Malaysia Red Crescent Society, and many others in organizing the RFP event.

No Peace, No Sustainable Development:

A Vicious Cycle that We Can Break

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have an intrinsic relationship to peace and stability. Without peace, all other goals—from focusing on youth and women‘s needs, to addressing climate change and water, energy and food security—will be impossible to achieve.

What is SGDs?

'Sustainable Development Goals (or SDGs) are a collection of 17 interlinked global goals which provide “a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.

The SDG framework was adopted by the United Nations in September 2015 which represents a universal call for action to protect the planet, end poverty and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.'
